Lazy pawsteps padded against the pristine snow, leaving behind tracks of a young, careless apprentice. He looked both ways as he exited the medicine cat's den to ensure that his flawed escape did not come noticed. All he wanted was to go on a patrol again, but this time, he himself would conduct it.
He walked to the nearest border, the one nearest to the Twolegplace, and what he saw was so awe-inspiring that he froze where he stood, his breath still. Glaring at him with the malice of a thousand demons was a bloodthirsty cat from a merciless past. The apprentice whipped around and ran as fast as he could back to camp, but the cat caught him before he could return with his message.
