Scrolls of Eshathar (SoE) is a free-forum based Role-Playing Game (RPG) placed in the world of Eshathar, where people of six races live their lives spiced with adventure, traveling through its kingdoms and colorful locations. One thing is certain - with its turbulent history and myths that effect the lives of all its inhabitants, Eshathar is everything but a dull place to live in.
There are 4 types of characters you will encounter here at SoE: Pit Fighters, Gladiators, Adventurers, and Legends. Right now, the only ones you can create and play as are: Gladiators, Pit Fighters, and Adventurers.
Pit Fighters are characters approved for both In-Game RP and Colosseum play. This means that a Pit Fighter can RP in any RP Area (permitted by each RP Area's rules, of course), any General RP, and any Epic RP, as well as any Colosseum challenges. Pit Fighters killed in the Colosseum are not killed in-game, and vice-versa. Colosseum challenges have no bearing whatsoever on any In-Game RPs and vice-versa.
Gladiators are characters that are played in the Colosseum only. A Gladiator exists only to fight. The Colosseum gives a Gladiator that chance, as there is no storyline or continuity in the Colosseum, only combat. SoE's Colosseum features a unique combat system, designed to test your skills as a writer. All characters must first apply for, and be approved in, the Colosseum before they can be played in any Colosseum challenge. Be warned, the Colosseum is for seasoned RP'ers only, and is intended to provide a highly challenging environment in which to perfect one's writing ability. Go through Boot Camp and see for yourself!
Legends are characters you cannot apply for. All Legends are preset and you can read about them in the Legend board. Legends are essentially powerful (non-player characters (NPCs), and are thus unavailable to be RP'ed by a player. There may be times when you will encounter a Legend IC. In those cases, it will be played by either the admin or a moderator. Keep in mind, Legend characters are TOO powerful for players to use- their bios are examples of what to avoid doing when you write up a character for yourself.
Still, most characters will end up being Adventurers - characters that are allowed to take part in Epic RP's as well as any General RP, but cannot fight in any of the Colosseum's challenges.
In case you don't feel like playing a character, but you like to lurk around and/or have a talent for creating exciting new machines, spells and potions, you will be most useful to us in our Grimoirum, Apothecary and Schematics boards. If the Colosseum interests you, you may contribute to the Armory or Skillbook to add your own unique content to the Colosseum. If you just want to unwind and have a little fun, join us in our Games board.
If you have an RPG site of your own, a xanga, livejournal, blog, personal website or anything else you would like to advertise on our board, feel free to use our Member Sites section. If you have another game to advertise, please use our Spam-vertisements board. If you would like to Affiliate, please use our Affiliates board. We do ask that any Affiliate place a SoE banner on their page in a separate section from regular advertisements. We, in turn, will do the same.
The rules of the game are very simple. There are blank templates for your characters in the Bios board, which also contains Gladiator and Pit Fighter templates. If you need help in creating or improving your character, just put your question in the Character Development board and we'll help you work everything out.
In case you have any questions or some kind of trouble, the staff and all the other members will be more than happy to help...all you have to do is ask.
So do take part! with all the ways every member can expand our universe, there's always something to do. Eshathar lets memebrs themselves create the content of the game, so the more you contribute, the better it is for everyone!
