Kahnis's long ears flicked forward warily as he padded slowly into the ruins of the building. Scents wrapped around his sensitive organ, flooding him with information. The old scent of humen, the more recent scents of dust, and wet dog, and blood. Even the stones had a smell. It was a cold smell, something that breathed ancient, unmovable, power. But any scents he detected were old. The place was empty. Just the way he liked it.
He moved further into the ruined building. Sunlight leaked through tall windows and bits of missing roof, creating a moving picture of shadow and light across his already patterned fur. He looked like some bizarre cross between a shepard and a jackal with his long ears and slender, but powerful frame. The golden brindle of his coat was not something often seen out here.
Kahnis peered through a doorway into a dark chamber. Only one slit of a window attempted to dispell the gloom. He could see the thick dust that had so offended his nose twirling and dancing in the single sunbeam. The large shepard grunted to himself. This would do nicely as a resting place. Dark, out of the way, and only one entrance, so he couldn't be ambushed. He padded over to the deepest corner and thumped to the ground, not quite gracefully.
He had been on the move for days with little rest and less food. Although he was tough, he was not stupid, the curr knew he could not survive this way for long. Sleep was long in coming to the exhausted canine. He was too wary of every flickering shadow and too cautious of every noise. Slowly though, the exhaustion over came him and he drifted off fitfully.

Scully's paws bounced as she made her way into St. Augustine's church. Her large frame moved effortlessly as she slipped in , nudging the door opened. Her lower jaw had dropped, salmon pink tongue lolling out and resting over her bottom canines. Ears were pricked, but they were slightly folded over. Her amber eyes were locked a head of her as she padded down the center aisle. Her tail hung down between her back legs, swaying with the motion of her easy lope. Muscles rippled beneath her wiry, but soft tawny colored fur.
The irish wolfhound vixen sniffed the air. A male had come through here before. A smirk played on her muzzle as she quickly glanced around, trying to pin point where his location was exactly. Some of the pews were badly damaged. Above the ceiling was in ruins. The sunlight beams bore down, creating rays of light in side the church. She paused briefly to feel the soft warmth on her coat. Her pads hardly made a noise on the floor which was dirt covered. She sneezed, shaking her head as she inhaled some of the dust.
Eventually, she spied the male. It was a male german shepherd. She approached him and planted her rump on the ground. Forelegs coming around to the front of her chest, keeping her upper body erect. She began speaking to him.
"Why hello there. What are you doing here boyo?" she asked him softly, smirking as she waited for him to respond. She could feel the warm spring breeze blowing over her back. A tingle ran down her spine as she sat there, watching him, amber orbs catching the suns light making them glow slightly. Her nose twitched as she patiently sat.

Someone else was here. The thought startled him out of sleep and on to his feet in an instant. He couldn't see who it was, didn't know what the threat was yet, but that didn't matter. Reflexes took over and Kahlis leaped to his feet, assuming a low and threatening position. His hackles raised in waves of brown and black stripes, His long ears twitched forward and alert, ready to hear sounds of movement that would warn him fractions on a second before his eyes would. His tail was erect, another way to make himself appear bigger. He bared his sharp white teeth menacingly and uttered a low growl as he assessed the intruder. He cursed himself for sleeping so deeply. A true hunter should be able to sense another's presence even in his sleep long before they are right in front of them.
He stared into the other's eyes, leaving them only to flick up and down the frame of the only slightly smaller femme in front of him. He silenced his growl and allowed himself to stand a bit straighter after realizing there was only her in front of him. Still the tension did not leave his body. She could be the scout for a pack, bait f some sort. Others could be waiting to ambush him. He sniffed quickly. It was just her, he could smell no others. Still, no sense in being less careful than he had to.
The she-dog in front on him was a blonde, scruffy looking female. She was a large dog. He could probably take her if he had to. But he wasn't here to fight, and by her relaxed posture neither was she. She didn't seem too bright, did she? Sneaking up on a sleeping dog, leaving herself open to attack and sitting right in the sun where her every move could be noted carefully with his chestnut eyes. He sat, slowly, allowing his hackles to smooth and his lips to sheathe his dangerous ivories.
"What I am doing here is none of your business, cur." He answered coldly. And the nerve of her, calling him "boyo". Did she have a death wish? Not that he was going to kill her. Nay, he had neither the time nor the inclination. But there were far more savage and less forgiving loners who wouldn't give a thought to ripping her throat out on the spot.

Scully laughed at his response. Does he honestly think he could take me? Please. I weigh about 150 pounds. He's a shepherd he weights about what? 130 pounds? There's twenty more pounds to me. He'd never survive! she laughed to herself and eyed him again. She began speaking to him again.
"Well now, I was merely being converstational. If you dont care to talk to me, perhaps we can try another route?" she asked lowering her head so that she was eye level with him now. Her tone was ever so light, but threatening at the same time. She didn't like it when dogs were rude to her when she was simply trying to be friendly here. Still, she would use harsh words instead of figthing. She simply was not in the mood to kill anyone at this point. Plus, she didnt think her alpha would like it too much.
No, Autumn would probably hunt this loser down himself. So she had plenty of amo to hold over this brutes head if he tried any funny business. Still, Scully watched him.
"My name is Scully. I'm in the Ruthgo pack," she said to him, feeling a smirk form on her face. She didn't know if he belonged to any pack. For all she knew he belonged to that weak Leek Pack, or the disgusting Dominix pack, which was another opposing pack...or even the Mafia. Her back went rigid as she sat there, waiting for him to speak again. Both ears were raised on either side of her head, acoustics tuned in for his words. If he knew what was good for him he'd definitely watch himself around me. she thought smugly and waited.

She adjusted her position to look him in the eye and Kahlis realized he had underestimated her. While he had a stockier build, this femme was larger than him. His hunger and confusion had obviously played with his head. Mentally, he scolded himself. Mistakes like that could get you killed out here. The edges of his vision began to swim a bit and his stomach made impatient growlings trying to remind it's neglectful owner of his needs.
He had no doubt that she could follow through on her threat and in his condition he hadn't a chance against her. It looked like being friendly might be his best option. And food, he needed food. Kahlis sat silently in the darkness and stared at the other dog. His ears flicked backward and forward and he shifted the weight of his body from side to side as he assessed his options.
Finally he grunted. "Kahlis. Beholden to none. Food, do you have any?" His manner was brusque and straightforward. Certainly his social skills left much to be desired. After years of only minimal socialization with others he had lost all social skills he might have once had. But he preferred it that way.

Scully continued to look at him smug. Aha he figured it out good boyo she thought and heard him speak about food. Scully shook her head and began speaking to him.
"I'm not a store, but I know where we can go to get good food. That is if you care to join me in the hunt?" she inquired as she pulled herself up onto all fours. She stood on all fours, slightly towering over him . Her tail hung down between her back hocks as she regarded him with her chocolate brown eyes. She took a few steps toward the direction and paused, glancing over her shoulder at him.
Her amber eyes caught the sunlight, making them glow golden. Her lower jaw dropped ,salmon pink tongue lolling out and resting over her bottom two canines. Her tawny colored fur blew softly in the breeze. Her ears were upright, but folded over. Her nose twitched, picking up the faint scents of the earth. She knew a really good hunting ground where they would be able to get fresh rabbit. It was in the outskirts of the city. It wasn't the most smartest choice to make, considering there were 'damaged' humans hiding somewhere, but she was hungry and hunting was the only solution.
They would just have to keep their eyes peeled for any signs that would cause alarm bells to go off in her mind. Scully was very attuned to changes in her environment, plus she was very good at problem solving too. Tactics used. She used to be in the military so that was probably why. She was using her training for that. It was embedded in her and there was no way she could chagne that right now. Plus, it might come in handy. She waited.

It could be a trap. How did he know he could trust her? He couldn't. The sad truth was that he didn't have much of an option. He hadn't been on the hunt in a while. He had scavenged the Human's old buildings for edibles, which was a dangerous endeavor, for most of his food lately. Fresh meat sounded good.
The dog rose to his feet smoothly. The room moved around and then settled. Inwardly he berated himself for allowing himself to go without food for so long. It was dangerous. He placed a paw into the sun, allowing himself to feel the heat. He would go with her.
"Very well," he nodded, "lead the way Scully Ruthgo." His eyes looked down, meeting her eyes would be a challenge, an insult, and something he did quite often, but in his condition it wasn't smart idea to offend his connection to food. As he moved forward and his body came into the sun, his bad condition became apparent. Ribs were obvious below his dull, rippled coat and his brown eyes were dull. His muzzle opened and is tongue lolled out as he waited for her to lead the way.

Scully nodded and watched him rise to his feet. She sensed he was bit wary and she smothered a snort and rolled her eyes. If I wanted to kill him I would've already. He needs to chill out, she thought to herself scornfully but shook her head and began leading the way.
"I come to this place often. They have good food there," she said then laughed as though she'd made a joke. The food that she hunted was good, but it was also living. While what she hunted was slightly smaller than she was, it was strangely satisfying all the same.
Scully's large frame moved carelessly along the streets as they slipped out of the church. The streets were strangely quiet, serene but bare. By now, she was highly used to the strange silence that pressed in on her from all directions. Most were still not acustomed to this soundless city, but she found it rather brilliant. Scully glanced to Kahnis and spoke again, her tongue lolling out and resting over her bottom canines over her back molars as she panted slightly.
"Believe me, hunting this prey is strangely satisfying," She said smirking at him as she loped, her musclces rippling beneath her tawny colored wiry fur. Both ears were pricked on either side of her head, acoustics cupping any noise that might come from them. Her amber orbs were locked a head of her, scanning around . There were a few birds that had taken flight, their bodies ebony against the blue sky. Fluffy white clouds drifted lazily across as she briefly noted the beauty of mother nature.
Her fur blew softly in the breeze, ruffling a few patches of it on her back and neck as she waited for him to react. [/color]
