GREENSPRING BRIAR
Plot:
The open skies of Greenspring led the small family to the rest of their lives. Carl, Mary-Jane, and Thomas traveled far in a horse-drawn wagon years ago to find the small abandoned town. They didn't know if anyone still lived here but nearly all the stone-built buildings were cob-webbed and dirty. They spent about three nights there before they discovered that this was the place to be. This was where they would grow old together and where hopefully, Thomas might find himself. Carl and Mary-Jane went straight to work. They cut down nearby trees and built themselves a cabin so that they would have a safe, sturdy shelter. Thomas, at age 15 had worked hard on cleaning out the ancient buildings and finding ancient items that possibly had belonged to cowboys. After nearly a year, the family had made a small town of their own.
It wasn't long that the family's town was found by landscapers. After discussing it with Carl and Mary-Jane, they agreed that the town would be updated to a modern day town. Landscapers and construction workers from all around came to help the family. Not long after, the town had a road and one stop-light, the family was given a car and an offer to stay for the rest of their lives as town-owners. Carl discussed it with his family and they were saddened that the small town they had build together was gone and built over. Carl and Mary-Jane had made the decision to leave. They didn't want modern-day living surrounding their lives. But Thomas thought otherwise. He was fascinated by the town that he had helped build, therefore he decided to stay, never to see his parents again. Thomas had the right to name the town, and his decision was simple. Greenspring. That was his parents' last name.
5 years later
Route 66 passes through Greenspring Briar. For travelers that pass through, or those who even live here, no one knows that history of the beautiful town and the meaning of its name. But year after year, there are hints that might give away what the true history of the town is. The small cabin has not yet been discovered by the people of the town. And Thomas? No one knows where he has gone. But there have been testimonies that someone will hear the hard work of a young boy hitting an axe against a tree and the sound of a small family surrounding the fireplace and laughing and playing games. But.... that could just be a myth.
